Movie Highlight: ‘Wazir’, Script is the villain of this Akhtar-Bacchan Starrer.

‘Wazir’, a collabaration between stalwarts like Farhan Akhtar , Amitabh Bacchan, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Abhijat Joshi and Bejoy Nambiar, was on top of my must watch list. So many great people collabarating on a project, it must be something special, I thought. Morever it was showcased looked like a Action-Thriller from the teaser and trailers and me being for Action movies as well as thrillers, I was pumped for this movie. Finally when the movie did roll out into theatres this weekend , it recieved mixed reviews. With my expectations lowered, I went into the theatre and still came out dissatisfied. So what went wrong?
First half of the film is predictable but is held together by strong performaces by Farhan Akhtar as ATS Officer Danish Ali and Amitabh Bacchan as PanditJi. Its the Second half which falls apart as the screenplay goes downhill and culminates with a lame twist. The twist instead salvaging the dissapointing last half, taints the okayish first half. Neil Nitin Mukesh as titular Wazir has nothing to do but look cool and I have no idea why John Abraham is in this movie. Manav Kaul as main villain is given a flimsy backstory and we are expected to hate him. Only few things standout such as sequence of Danish Ali’s revenge quest high on sleeping pills.
Alas, this one couldn’t do it, looks like we’ll have to wait and watch if  ‘Airlift’ delivers as a good thriller.
